3D scanning, surveys & digital twins

GB3D is a West Sussex-based studio that captures buildings inphotorealistic 3D. Measured LiDAR surveys, point clouds ready for CAD and BIM, 3D floor plans, walkable tours and digital twins — so everyone on a project is working from the building as it actually stands rather than a drawing that may be decades out of date.

Most of what we are asked for starts the same way: nobody is quite sure what is really there. One visit settles it. After that the measurements are on record, and if something was missed we can usually pull it off the scan rather than come back out.

Why "GB3D"?

GB3D started life as Gaussian Build 3D. The business began in photorealistic 3D scanning — using a technique called Gaussian splatting — and the name stuck. So today it is simply GB3D, and it is the scanning the name came from.

We capture with the Xgrids PortalCam — a mobile LiDAR system combining millimetre-accurate geometry with rich photographic detail — producing Gaussian splats, point clouds (scan-to-CAD and scan-to-BIM), measured floor plans and full digital twins for estate agents, architects, surveyors and developers. Recent captures include a Lindfield High Street fly-through and a Panattoni commercial unit in Burgess Hill.

What about the software?

For a while GB3D built business software too — booking, quotes, scheduling and ordering tools for local firms.
